When an animal feeds, foreign metal objects it takes in, such as wire and nails, stay in the stomach during rumination because they are heavy. Over time, the movement of the rumen can drive a nail or wire into the membrane of the heart or lung, which lie directly in front of the stomach, and cause inflammation of that membrane. A rumen magnet is needed in these cases, which can end in the death of the animal.
The rumen magnet stays in the animal's rumen and prevents swallowed foreign metal from moving upward.
The rumen magnet has no side effects on the rumen and stays in place until the cow's economic value and productivity end and it is sent to slaughter.
The strong magnet collects objects such as nails and wire, preventing damage to the animal's health and the loss of yield caused by not eating.
The washers and end caps are nickel-plated to prevent rust.
